In the 18 roses, the first dance will be the debutante’s father, and the last one will either be her special someone, suitor, or her best-friend. The debut modern version still has the traditional programs, but is given some twists: The night ends with the debutante’s speech, in which she shares her thoughts on life and extends her gratitude towards her guests. A birthday cake ceremony often occurs, and a fireworks display may conclude more extravagant parties.
Music and other performances are usually interspersed between the “18 items” rites, while dinner and sometimes alcohol are served.
Each delivers a short speech about her relationship with the celebrant and any special greeting, and lights a candle that is either in her hand or placed in a stand. But since it’s just a once-in-a-lifetime event, she decided it was worth doing anyway.įor this intimate event with her nearest and dearest, Francine collaborated with some of the best in the events industry: event coordinator Kim Torres event stylist Gideon Hermosa Charisse Tinio and her teams from NicePrint Photo, Apogée event venue, and invitation specialist Print Divas Juan Carlo the Caterer cake maker Hearts and Bells LSTmobile for the lights and sound system and Always in Motion Live Inc. for the projection mapping and LED design. A self-confessed old soul, she could’ve just also chosen to visit a museum or a library and spend a peaceful alone time. Francine also revealed in our exclusive interview that she initially wanted to celebrate her 18th birthday quietly, and didn’t want to hold a party.
